Bonding
Bonding (Direct composite restorations)
One of Dr. Spoor’s true fortés is composite bonding and he is at the very highest level of treatment skills. The process involves placing a composite resin on the surface of the tooth and can accomplish many of the same things as porcelain veneer. The advantages are that bonding can be done in one visit, is minimally invasive (the least invasive of all the choices), can be easily altered or repaired, is less expensive and gives an immediate result.
The disadvantages are that the tensile and compressive strengths of the material are less than porcelain (this means where it’s used is most important), it can pick up stains from food and drink a bit more (with proper oral hygiene it is still excellent) and it takes a very high skill level of the dentist placing the material to get an exceptional result.
